It has been used on large yachts and merchant ships and has been subjected to stress of a chemical and mechanical nature for very lengthy periods of time without showing any sign of failing.
It adheres very well to a variety of materials, while its elastic properties make it suitable for gluing, sealing and reinforcing work.
ASTM/IMO certified as fire retardant, international MED number 117.
Treatment of surfaces to be coated
- Metal: when coating the more common construction metals, such as steel, aluminium and its alloys, which have a matt surface, simply give the substrate a good clean using either manual or automatic methods to remove grease.
- When dealing with metals that have a smooth, reflective surface, such as stainless steel, pressed aluminium, copper, brass, titanium and magnesium, it’s essential to blast the surface, possibly with a very coarse abrasive, or scuff by brushing.
- Fibreglass and composite: it’s essential to give the surface a good clean and degreasing, using manual or automatic methods. To ensure maximum adhesion, it’s always advisable to scuff the surface by abrasive blasting or brushing.
- Wood: no special preparation work is required. Make sure there is no salt efflorescence or mould on the surface.
Application
The coating is really easy to apply by roller or brush.
It’s actually very dense, meaning spray equipment cannot be used with it.
Very thick coats can be applied by roller or brush, in the order of 200-300 microns thick in a single coat, even on vertical surfaces.
It’s important to apply the product thoroughly in order to reach all corners of the areas to be treated and also achieve a high standard of finish.
It should not be diluted. Its coverage, based on an average 250 microns, is approx. 4 square meters.
