Coatings that change colour with temperature
Available for many materials, in various colours and with different temperature ratings
Colours
There are about ten colour options, including various shades of red, yellow, blue, green and black.
The temperature range goes from -15°C to + 70°C.
Uses
This is a rather unique technology that finds application in a whole host of different fields:
- in design, giving a unique look to a vast array of gifts and home accessories
- in chemical and engineering industries, as a hazard warning or alarm reporting a machine malfunction
- in the refrigeration industry, where it acts as a thermometer
- in household heating and food warming appliances as a hazard warning
It works for thousands of reversible cycles, with the effect slowly deteriorating after a few years of operation.
Performance
Each custom product is tailored to individual technical and aesthetic specifications with a view to delivering the ultimate performance in terms of:
- adhesion to the substrate
- chemical resistance and mechanical strength
- ease of application
- attractive aesthetic appearance
Treatment of surfaces to be coated
Comply with usual surface preparation requirements.
- clean thoroughly
- ensure surface is undamaged
- scuff smooth and reflective metal substrates by abrasive blasting or sanding
- apply specific primers on more difficult plastic polymers
Given the enormous variety of materials and applications, each proposed job will be analysed individually.
Application
All versions of the product must be applied by spraying, with normal airmix or airless equipment, using nozzles measuring between 1.2 and 1.7 mm and with air pressure set to 3-4 bar.
Air-dries at ambient temperature.
