Air-drying 1-pack coating for metal
Excellent adhesion and elasticity, good anticorrosive primer, good overcoatability.
Colours
Can be produced in various colours, with reference to international colour charts or matched to a sample, with matt finish.
Uses
Mainly used as an anticorrosive etch primer for metal structures.
Particularly widely used by structural steel fabricators supplying metalwork for construction and in industry for coating farm equipment, textile machinery and small power tools.
In the rail industry, for treating metalwork exposed outdoors but not in particularly aggressive environments.
It can also be used as a topcoat for interior use.
Performance
Its main features include:
- excellent adhesion to metal
- good anticorrosive properties
- good chemical and weather resistance
- overcoatability with a variety of coatings
Treatment of surfaces to be coated
If the metal has a smooth, reflective surface, such as stainless steel or pressed aluminium or other difficult metals such as copper and brass, it’s essential to pretreat the substrate by abrasive blasting or sanding to promote better adhesion.
On the other hand, commercial steel and aluminium, which have a rough surface, usually just need a good clean to remove residual machining swarf, dirt, grease and dust.
Application
For an aesthetically pleasing finish, it’s best to apply using traditional airmix or airless spray equipment, set to a low pressure and fitted with spray nozzles measuring between 1.2 and 2.0 mm.
It can also be applied by brush or roller if a high standard of finish is not a priority. In this case, make sure you apply the product evenly to avoid it building up in some places or ending up with areas left uncoated.
The thickness of the coating to be applied ranges from a minimum of 30 microns, to over 100 microns where greater anticorrosive properties are required. Dries at ambient temperature in approx. 30 minutes and can be overcoated after a few hours.
