Air-drying 1-pack water-based finish for metal
Ideal for exposure outdoors; very hard and resistant.
Non-toxic, odourless and non-flammable.
Colours
Can be produced in various colours, matched to a sample or with reference to colour charts, with the exception of metallic colours.
Varying gloss level ranging from semi-gloss to gloss.
Uses
Topcoat for structural metalwork, garden and household furniture, machinery of various kinds and small design objects and collector’s items.
Being entirely odourless and having no harmful emissions makes it suitable for coating systems in health-sensitive environments, for surfaces that need to be safe for human and animal contact.
Performance
Highly attractive to and approved by leading industries for its:
- excellent adhesion
- great outdoor resistance
- good hardness and abrasion resistance
- chemical and corrosion resistance
Treatment of surfaces to be coated
The surface can be cleaned with a normal degreasing wash to remove residual machining swarf, traces of dirt or grease and light coatings of dust.
No special mechanical pretreatment is required.
This sort of pretreatment is instead required when coating difficult metals or metals with a smooth, reflective surface (stainless steel, brass, etc.). In such cases, it’s best to blast with fine grit or sand the surface to promote better adhesion.
Application
Best applied by spraying, using normal airmix or airless equipment, fitting spray guns with nozzles measuring between 1.2 and 1.7 mm and setting air pressure to 3-4 bar.
Apply to a thickness of between 20 and 50 microns, in a number of coats. Application by roller or brush is not recommended, unless a high standard of finish is not a priority.
The product air-dries at ambient temperature in approx. 30-40 minutes; drying can be speeded up in an oven at 50-60°C.
